College Of Education Teachers Accused Of Taking Bribe
The director of audit, College of Education, Akwanga, Nasarawa state, Barnabas Abdu has made a weighty allegation against teachers in Colleges of Education. According to Daily Trust, Abdu made the statement while delivering a paper titled: “The Role Of Public Relations Officer in Curbing Corruption in College of Education”. The lecture was held in Abuja at the 20th annual general meeting of committee of Public Relations Executives and information officers of College Education in Nigeria. Abdu stated that academic performance is not taken seriously anymore because it is an open secret that students are occasionally compelled to pay bribe in Colleges of Education. He further said that students were victimized by corrupt and unethical lecturers, adding that the female students were forced to compromise their integrity to pass examinations. In the same vein, the Executive Secretary, National Commission for College of Education (NCCE), Professor Bappa-Aliyu Muhammdu, noted that quality teacher education could be achieved through the cooperation of stakeholders in the educational sector.
